I created this fictional device from my imagination. This could be a transmission device, receiver or encoder of a secret transmission, or some kind of a network device. 1194 tris 2219 verts.
I modeled the high poly in 3Ds Max 2019 using traditional hard surface techniques. It was pretty easy process. Then I created low poly from the high poly by heavy optimization.
UV Unwrapping was painless, I unwrapped each of the corresponding low poly pieces first by adding UV Unwrap Modifier. Final packing of the pieces was easy, I just selected all of the pieces and added one more UV Unwrap modifier which showed all the islands of each of the piece.
3D Max is great tool for this kind of project as we don't need to combine and separate pieces in order to get all of them to the same UV map. I created radiosity map from the LEDs for emission, and baked everything in Substance Designer with skew correction.
